This Olympic complex built on a surface of 16 hectares located in the heart of the new city of Lille-East. Road links with Belgium, Luxemburg and West Germany confert to this complex a vocation of international hospitality.
The olympic stadium will accommodate 30,000 people and was designed in the shape of an elliptical cairn with the tiers located on the interior slopes. The axes of the ellipse reach 260 and 300 meters at the base, which classifies it as a medium-size complex.
On each side of the central area, two stands provide space for 12,000 spectators. Five auto-stade masts support the roofing elements of the stands, giving the project a distinctive silhouette easily recognizable from the autoroute bordering the stadium.
The stadium itself is completed by related installations planned with great care : a 400 meters field track and various playing areas, an all-weather football training field and a vast playing field. A basin completes the ensemble, creating an harmonious link with the green of the surrounding landscape.
